Housekeeping Olympics 2026

The 11th Annual Banff Lake Louise Housekeeping Olympics didn’t just bring together the hospitality community—it captured the attention of audiences across Canada.

Held on May 28, 2026, at the Fenlands Recreation Centre, this year’s event welcomed more than 550 participants, supporters, volunteers, and spectators to celebrate the incredible professionals who keep Banff and Lake Louise’s hospitality industry running every day. As the largest employee recognition event in Banff National Park—and the largest celebration of its kind in Canada—the Housekeeping Olympics continues to shine a well-deserved spotlight on the people behind exceptional guest experiences.

That celebration reached an even wider audience this year when CBC News featured the Housekeeping Olympics, showcasing the passion, teamwork, and camaraderie that make this event so special. The national coverage highlighted not only the friendly competition, but also the vital role housekeeping professionals play in delivering world-class hospitality and creating memorable visitor experiences.

The event also received extensive local media coverage, including a front-page feature and photo spread in the Rocky Mountain Outlook, on-air mentions on Mountain FM, and promotion across BLLHA and BanffLIFE channels, helping share the story of Banff and Lake Louise’s hospitality workforce with thousands of people.

This year, 18 teams representing 22 hotel properties competed in a series of creative, fast-paced events featuring the tools of their trade—from precision bed-making and towel art to vacuum races, obstacle courses, and buffer pad tosses. More than 350 cheerleaders, colleagues, family members, and community supporters filled the stands, while over 60 volunteers helped make the event possible, creating an unforgettable atmosphere of pride and celebration.

The Games also reflected our industry’s commitment to sustainability. In partnership with SustainDriven and Muuse, an impressive 99% of event waste was diverted from landfill during the 550+ person BBQ and competition—an achievement that sets a high bar for future events.

Beyond the medals and friendly rivalry, the Housekeeping Olympics is about recognizing the dedication, skill, and professionalism of the people who are often the first to arrive and the last to leave each day. Their work is essential to the success of every hotel, every guest stay, and the reputation of Banff and Lake Louise as a world-class destination.

We’re also proud that proceeds from this year’s event supported BanffLIFE, with a $500 donation helping the organization continue building community and connection for young adults living in Banff.
