You are about to embark on an incredible life journey in the most special place on earth. I first saw Banff when I was on a holiday with my parents. I was 14 years old and, looking out over the town from the top of Sulphur Mountain, I turned and said to my mom, “I’m going to live here one day”.

While I was at the University of Guelph in Ontario (I won’t give the year), many of my friends were heading to the Columbia Icefields for summer jobs. So I joined them, and spent two exciting summers in the middle of “The Ice”. Once I finally graduated (you know how it goes— I spent a few years deciding just what I wanted to do with the rest of my life, in between trips to Banff), I made up my mind to make the move permanent. I began a career in sales and public relations for the Banff Springs Hotel, met and married a local boy and raised my two sons here. I am thrilled and honoured to be the mayor of the town I fell in love with all those years ago.

Heading west and working at The Ice was a life-changing decision for me. I still think those were the two best summers of my life. In fact, every year in Banff has been pure bliss.

While the entire world has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, Banff’s response and our community’s commitment to health and safety has kept Banff very safe. We are ready to welcome visitors from around the world to this amazing destination, just as we are eager to welcome new members of our community.

Whether you choose to spend a summer here or a couple of years, or a lifetime, Banff will always be the best time of your life.
